HalifaxLive is reporting more details about Paul Martin’s plan for handguns post-election.
The Liberals will also re-introduce legislation that doubles the mandatory minimum sentences for key gun crimes such as trafficking and smuggling of firearms and the illegal possession of loaded handguns in public places. Those who use handguns to commit a crime need to understand that using handguns will result, each and
every time, in jail time.
The Handgun issue may be important to those in Toronto or Vancouver, but unfortunately I feel the rest of the country is going to have a hard time relating.
Layton’s double standard is grating on my nerves. He uses the Belinda Stronach cross the floor and cronyism situations for political points - but it’s OK for his wife, Olivia Chow, to resign three times from Toronto council even though she was elected to represent her constituents (only not officially enough so that she can continue to collect her cheques) to run as an MP - so that she can join her husband in Ottawa - cronyism or what.
Jack also likes social housing so much he lived in it while on Toronto council (making over $120,000 between he and his wife) until the press got a hold of it.
His so-called compromise was also a joke - it was like asking Martin to agree he wasn’t good enough to be PM and help Layton et al to prove it - some would call this extortion.
I can’t take his mister goody-goody, holier than thou stuff anymore. If you’re going to preach behind the pulpit you should have at least earned it.
You’re right, Jack, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
